How many members are currently in your center?
We have 33 members ranging from 8 years old through adults.

Does your center host any events throughout the year?
We are a very active center. We have hosted our region’s horseless rally for the last few years.  In addition, we have held all local-level certifications. Our center has also hosted a variety of clinicians, including some that are former Pony Club members.

We also host a special event in July where community members are invited; we have jumping demos, Pony and horse rides, food, artwork from our members for auction, and so much more!

What disciplines do your members participate in?
Our members participate in Dressage and Eventing.

Do you have any favorite center traditions?
We have a yearly campout. Each summer, we have a cookout, followed by a movie in our indoor arena, and then the members sleep over in tents. The next morning, we all have breakfast together and go for a ride.

What are some fun activities your center likes to do?
Our club likes to have Quiz rally prep sessions two times a month. The members participate in a variety of activities and games and have fun while learning and practicing!

Do you have a story about your center you’d like to share?
One thing we love takes place during our horseless rally, in which a unicorn gets loose inside the arena. Members have to demonstrate the proper way to get a loose horse. At the end of the rally, members who had their own hobby horse participate in a parade led by the unicorn!

What achievements from your center would you like to highlight?
We sent a full Dressage team to USPC Championships East in 2022.

Do you have any advice for other clubs/centers?
Have fun. Do not be afraid to get creative when reviewing and doing rallies and ratings. Oh, and don’t forget tent stakes for your rally tents!

What is your center’s website?
Pleasant Ridge Pony Club (Facebook page) and Pleasant Ridge Farm

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC or Pony Club) is the largest equestrian educational organization in North America. Started in 1954, the organization has developed curriculum that teaches safe riding skills and the care of horses through mounted and unmounted lessons. Through Pony Club, members have fun with horses and make lifelong friends while they develop skills, habits, and values that extend well beyond the barn and last a lifetime. Many members apply what they have learned in the USPC program successfully in their careers, educational and volunteer opportunities, and other life pursuits.
