Meet your 2019 National Youth Board Members- Virginia
USPC would like to highlight the National Youth Board Members for the current term. Today we would like to introduce Virginia Carpenter. Virginia is an incoming member for the 2019 National Youth Board. She is a C-2 Eventing, H-B HM member from Casanova-Warrenton Pony Club in the Virginia Region and has been an active member for 12 years. Virginia competes in polocrosse, mounted games, and eventing and is currently training her 4yr old OTTB Captain America. She thoroughly enjoys teaching beginner lessons and coaching polocrosse and mounted games. Cross Country Speeds and Timing
Time is both important and unimportant to a rider on cross-country. For an event rider, knowing speeds and time in your head can be the difference in mere seconds. At the lower levels, time is one of the least important parts of the round, as the rider should be trying to be in control and safe. At the top levels, time is of the utmost importance as it can mean moving up or down in placings. The good news is this is something that can be explained and taught. McKenzie is the advisor of the National Youth Board, and therefore serving a third year after holding the position of Chair. She is a member of Silver Bits Pony Club in the North Central Prairie Region, living in Waverly, Iowa. She is a member of Heartland Region and is a C-1 HM/C-1 Traditional member of White River Valley Pony Club Riding Center. This is her first year on the National Youth Board.
