    USPC would like to highlight the National Youth Board Members for the current term. Today we meet Area 7 member Julie Jacobs. Julie Jacobs is an H Traditional, C-3 Dressage member of Greenville Foothills Pony Club in the Carolina Region. She started riding in 2004 and has been a member of Pony Club since 2007. Julie primarily competes in dressage and has attended Dressage Championships in 2014 and 2015. She is also passionate about horse management and enjoys teaching Pony Club members, as well as attending regional rallies as a Stable Manager. KC van Solinge is a B Traditional member from the Camino Real Region. K C was born and raised on the beautiful central coast of California in the city of Santa Maria where she joined the Santa Ynez Valley Pony Club at the age of 8. She has been very active in Pony Club for the past 12 years competing in 3 different Championships and representing the USPC in the 2015 Inter-Pacific Exchange Team last summer. Thanks to USPC staff member, Jenny Van Wieren-Page, we can share a few awesome Q & A articles with some of the US Dressage Team members who are Pony Club Graduates! Traditionally when you think of Pony Club Alumni who go on to become Olympians you think of the sport of Eventing.     It depends. While summer is generally not a peak parasite transmission time in many parts of the country, some horses may require a more aggressive schedule that includes deworming during the summer. The key is to work with your veterinarian to conduct fecal tests to determine your horse’s shedding status (how much and of which parasites he is shedding), then customize the deworming protocol. Low egg shedders typically require only two dewormings a year, whereas high shedders may require up to six treatments. Jessica Pieracci is a C-3 Traditional member of Golden Hills Pony Club in the Middle California Region. She has been riding her whole life and joined Pony Club when she was 10 years old. She competes in eventing and tetrathlon on her six year old thoroughbred, Apollo’s Harp. Jessica enjoys foxhunting and is an active member of the Los Altos Hounds. Kelly Lynch is an H-B, D-3 Traditional, C-1 Flat member of Centennial Pony Club in the Rocky Mountain Region. Kelly has been a member of Pony Club since 2006. She has been involved regionally at rallies, D camps, and Horse Management and Standards and Certification clinics as well as nationally, competing at Quiz Championships in 2010. Nicole Ligon is an “A” member from Pickering Hunt Pony Club in the Eastern Pennsylvania Region. She has been a Pony Club member for over ten years, and spent time exploring a vast majority of what Pony Club has to offer, including foxhunting, mounted games, polocrosse, and the three day eventing disciplines. Deena Cahill is the secretary of the National Youth Board for 2016-2017. She is a C-2/H-B in Amwell Valley Hounds Pony Club of the New Jersey region. In her riding career, she focuses mostly on Eventing and Dressage. For the past five years Deena has been retraining an off-track thoroughbred and has successfully competed at Training level in Eventing, as well as First Level Dressage.
