TDF Awards Trip Harting Fund Grant for Pony Club Members to Uma Kraskin

The Dressage Foundation is pleased to award a $1,000 grant from its Trip Harting Fund for Pony Club members and alumni to Uma Kraskin.

Uma is a member of the United States Pony Clubs, Wekiva Basin Pony Club, Silver Sands Bridle Club, Dressage4Kids, and several other organizations. In addition to Dressage and Western dressage, Uma also participates in endurance riding and the Pony Club Quiz Rally. Uma plans to use her funding to train with Jane Ashley (VT) over the summer.

“TDF’s Trip Harting Fund grant allows me to continue my education in dressage and work toward my goal of a USDF Bronze medal,” said Kraskin. “I am so grateful to have this grant to be able to work with higher-level Dressage coaching to achieve my goals, while at the same time keeping the spirit of Pony Club alive in our daily training and horsemanship.”

Trip Harting’s friends and colleagues established this fund at The Dressage Foundation when he passed away in August 2008. The purpose of the Trip Harting Fund is to provide financial assistance for a Pony Club rider, such as Uma Kraskin, to attend an educational event of his or her choice. Applicants must be current or alumni Pony Club members.  Applications are due March 25 of each year.

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC or Pony Club) is the largest equestrian educational organization in North America. Started in 1954, the organization has developed curriculum that teaches safe riding skills and the care of horses through mounted and unmounted lessons. Through Pony Club, members have fun with horses and make lifelong friends while they develop skills, habits, and values that extend well beyond the barn and last a lifetime. Many members apply what they have learned in the USPC program successfully in their careers, educational and volunteer opportunities, and other life pursuits.
