Meet your 2016 National Youth Board Members!
USPC would like to highlight the National Youth Board Members for the current term. Today we meet Area 5 member Deena Cahill.
Deena Cahill is the secretary of the National Youth Board for 2016-2017. She is a C-2/H-B in Amwell Valley Hounds Pony Club of the New Jersey region. In her riding career, she focuses mostly on Eventing and Dressage. For the past five years Deena has been retraining an off-track thoroughbred and has successfully competed at Training level in Eventing, as well as First Level Dressage. Deena works at a local farm helping a family keep their horses exercised and trained. This year she hopes to move up to Second Level Dressage and continue Eventing at the lower levels. Deena is also in the process of starting up a Regional Youth Board in her region with the help of some Pony Club friends.
In her free time, Deena enjoys building Cross-Country and Stadium jumps. One of her lifelong dreams is to eventually own and run her own cross-country schooling facility for all to enjoy. She also enjoys writing and performing music. She has been writing and performing her own music since the sixth grade and has performed in New York City and all over New Jersey. She is currently studying Environmental Science at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Deena plans to remain an integral part of the United States Pony Clubs, Inc. on the regional and national level throughout her lifetime. She believes in the responsibility and character that Pony Club has taught her and her peers. She hopes to continue and improve this education for many young equestrians.
