
Recent Pony Club Local Legend and Volunteer Recognition Award Recipients
The United States Pony Clubs (USPC) is, and always has been, an organization run with the aid of volunteers. In honor of recognizing Pony Club volunteer awards nominees.
2024 Pony Club 20+- Year Local Legend Award Recipients
Established by the Board of Governors in May 2010, the USPC 20+-Year Local Legend Award is intended to honor those who have faithfully served their local club, center, and/or region for at least 20 years. The following are the latest recipients of the Local Legend Award:
Nancy Sachs, of the Rocky Mountain Region, has served as a District Commissioner (DC) for 25 years, as well as a Vice Regional Supervisor for seven years. She has helped organize several regional activities that include quiz rally and the region’s Horse Management clinic.
Patricia Templeton, of the Inland Empire Region, has served over 30 years in her region. She helped co-found the Walla Walla Pony Club in 1981 and had been an instructor for most of the 1980s and 1990s. She was also an instructor from 2006 through 2015, and 2019 to now. She served as club DC since 2019 and still holds this position.
Ken and Sue Sweeney, of the Northwest Region, have served together for 39 years in the local level and 10 years at the regional level. They were the founding sponsors of the Ranahan Pony Club and have hosted many Pony Club camps and clinics in multiple clubs. These clubs include the Ranahan Pony Club, Discovery Pony Club, Equitese Pony Club, and the Emerald Hills Pony Club. They have also hosted regional rallies and certifications for the Northwest Region, providing volunteer support for each activity.
Volunteer Recognition Award Recipient
The USPC Volunteer Recognition Award, created in 1993, is intended to be a special honor for the most dedicated Pony Club volunteers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. The following is the latest recipient of the Volunteer Recognition Award:
Tracy Hunter, who volunteered at the Midsouth non-qualifying and qualifying rallies, has made a huge impact at every event her two daughters Ashley and Alexis have attended within the last two years. She is likely to be found running the show jumping in-gate from start to finish of the entire competition. She has the ability to not only run the ring in an efficient, positive manner, but also able to provide encouragement and smiles to everyone. She has aided in keeping rallies and events running smoothly due to her positive attitude.
