Current certification (and/or certification currently working on): C-2 Horse Management, C-1 Eventing, C-1 Dressage, C-1 Hunter Seat Equitation

What disciplines and/or activities are you involved in?
Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping, Hunter Seat Equitation/Hunters, Horse Management

Tell us about your current mount(s) and what you do with them:
I have a 13-year-old Welsh/American sport pony named Connie. Connie and I compete in the 0.90m Jumpers and Beginner Novice Eventing. We have shown at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) Ocala; WEC Ohio; in Aiken, SC; at the Kentucky Horse Park; and also compete in a lot of Pony Club rallies. Connie and I love to go to a beach in the winter called Hunting Island to canter through the waves and also work on Dressage in the sand. I have also gone pony racing with her at the Aiken Trials, and she got 4th.

Tell us about your goals (with Pony Club, with riding, and in life):
My goals are to get my C-2 Hunter Seat Equitation certification in the summer and C-2 Eventing certification in the fall. My other goal is to compete at the Pony Finals for the jumpers in August, hopefully on the USPC team.

What is your favorite thing about Pony Club?
I really like doing certifications and going to clinics (where the kids do all the work).

What is one thing you would tell younger members first about joining Pony Club?
In Pony Club, you have a lot of opportunities to be with your friends and meet new people to improve your riding skills and knowledge.

What is your favorite way to prepare for a Horse Management certification?
I use flashcards with a group of my friends.

If you could try out any other discipline or activity, what would it be and why?
I think I would try Foxhunting, because it sounds really fun.

Favorite Pony Club memory:
During rally, there are a lot of fun things that we have done as a team. A few examples are making funny team names, such as the Prancing Pineapples and dressing up the pineapples and eating them.

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC or Pony Club) is the largest equestrian educational organization in North America. Started in 1954, the organization has developed curriculum that teaches safe riding skills and the care of horses through mounted and unmounted lessons. Through Pony Club, members have fun with horses and make lifelong friends while they develop skills, habits, and values that extend well beyond the barn and last a lifetime. Many members apply what they have learned in the USPC program successfully in their careers, educational and volunteer opportunities, and other life pursuits.
