Age: 18
Center/Region: Heart To Heart Morgans Pony Club Riding Center/Western New York Region
Years in Pony Club: 10
Current Certification: H-B Horse Management, C-2 Eventing
What disciplines and/or activities are you involved in?
Eventing, Dressage, Show Jumping, Mounted Games, Tetrathlon, Horse Management, and Quiz
Tell us about your current mount(s) and what you do with them:
My most recent personal mount got kicked in January and had to be put down, but with him I was going to be doing my first ever Novice Eventing level. For now, for this show season, I have a lease horse named Spicey Waterbuffalo, and I plan to go Beginner Novice with her and am hoping to qualify for Championships in Eventing. As of right now, I am competing her at the 2’6″ height in Show Jumping.

Tell us about your goals (with Pony Club, with riding, and in life):
My goals in life with Pony Club are to get my H-A certification and improve my riding to the best of my capabilities. For the life aspect, I plan to take knowledge I’ve learned from Pony Club and transform that into a business, either in sales or rehabbing horses.
What is your favorite thing about Pony Club?
My favorite thing about Pony Club is getting to meet a bunch of new people when you go to rallies and learning so much stuff about horses or Pony Club in general that you would have never known if you did not get into Pony Club.
What is one thing you would tell new members about joining Pony Club?
Something I would tell newer Pony Club members is to try your hardest and don’t be shy! If you go to a rally, talk to as many people as you can, because it creates so many new friendships. If you don’t do your best, don’t get down on yourself.
What is your favorite way to prepare for a Horse Management (HM) certification?
My favorite way to prep for a Horse Management certification is to create flashcards of my own and study those flashcards over and over and over again.
If you could try out any other discipline or activity, what would it be and why?
If I could try out another discipline, it would probably be Polocrosse. I feel like I would really be interested in it, because it’s an adrenaline rush going fast up and down the field. It requires a lot of teamwork, and I love the teamwork aspect of things.

Describe your favorite Pony Club memory:
My favorite Pony Club memory is when I was at a Mounted Games rally, and my teammate sat in a bucket and ended up getting stuck in the bucket. We had to force his body out of the bucket.
How did you get started with horses? Are you a member of any other equine organizations?
I got started with horses through a friend when my friend wanted to go ride at a lesson barn for a birthday present. I am currently associated with 4-H and the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA).
Have you done any special activities in Pony Club, such as international exchanges, recognition programs, virtual competitions, etc.)? Tell us more.
I have not.
What makes you #PonyClubProud?
Something that makes me Pony Club proud is knowing that I would not be where I am today with horses without Pony Club and its people.
