USPC would like to highlight the National Youth Board Members for the current term. Today we meet Area 4 member Mattea Curtis.
Mattea Curtis is an H (C-3/H-A) member of Northern Mines Pony Club in the Sierra Pacific Region. She became involved with Pony Club at the age of ten, and it has shaped her riding career. It introduced her to the sport of eventing, and she has been hooked ever since. With the help of her saint of a pony, Daisy, she competed in local events and achieved her C-2 certification. Daisy also took her from her first fox hunt up to first field. When she set her sights on the C-3, she sought help from 4* eventer, Kristi Nunnink, by becoming a working student. Even though it wasn’t a part of the plan, she began competing heavily in eventing, even traveling as far as Montana to compete at Rebecca Farms. She now attends Cal Poly, majoring in Environmental Management and minoring in Equine Science. She is an active member of the Equestrian team for hunt seat equitation and western, and the Dressage team.
