CERTIFICATION LEVEL: C2 TOPIC CATEGORY: Stable Management
LESSON TOPIC: Stable Safety
OBJECTIVE OF LESSON: Using daily practices to keep horse, self, and others safe, in addition to rules, proper practices and procedures in and around the barn.
HOW WILL THE LESSON BE EXPLAINED: Lecture, use of USPC manual, good practices and why (safety), bullet points, use pictures of good and bad practices, include whys. They are used at rallies, at home, horse shows, etc.
HOW WILL THE LESSON BE DEMONSTRATED: Use pictures with lectures showing (if possible, best practices) and why bad practices (use pictures if possible).
HOW WILL STUDENTS APPLY WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED IN THE LESSON: use/find pictures and have students find good and bad practices. But best is if instructor can have a “live” scavenger hunt if possible, to include good and bad practices, have it timed, and then go over it. Whoever has the quickest time with the most correct answers wins a prize of some sorts.
HOW WILL THE LESSON BE REVIEWED AND WRAPPED UP: Review why good practices are to be used, primarily safety for horses, humans, etc.)
